Art in your Bathroom – Introducing Mosaic Tiles

The title of this article might seem rather illogical, and I can understand why. Who would want to put a priceless painting near their shower or a marvelous statue near the toilet? The painting would be ruined and the statue is, well, pointless. But, I am not talking about standard forms of art. In this article, I will be talking about mosaic art. If you don’t know what that is, it is a form of art that deals with aligning and combining small pieces of material into a big, marvelous looking picture. Now, you are probably asking yourself what mosaics have to do with bathroom designs, but, think about it. What do you have in your bathroom? The answer is: Tiles!

And, if you think of each individual tile as small pieces of material, and the wall as the surface for a mosaic construction, you will get the gist of what I am trying to tell you.

On the one hand you have everything related to the tiles’ ability to withstand humidity and protect the wall surface from damaging, and on the other, you have the opportunity to create an inspiring and creative picture, so why not combine usefulness and beauty and make your bathroom stand out from every other that you have seen. On the market, there are numerous mosaic tile designs available, so you don’t even have to put in the effort of exploring your creativity. It is all done for you. You just have to visit nearby stores, or sit in your comfortable chair and start researching on Google, because, on the net, you can find anything you need.

  • Materials for Mosaic Tiles

Tiles can be made out of all sorts of material. The most common choice for a bathroom is marble or ceramic, but these types of tiles come in a small number of colors. The most colorful in the bunch is glass, because glass can be painted in almost all colors of the color spectrum. There is also the stainless steel mosaic tiling. This one comes in a standard metallic (bluish or grayish), but it has a permanent shine, and it can look very futuristic. There are also other materials like stone and pebble, and many more. The best thing about it all is that you are not limited to choosing only one material for your bathroom, and when the tile installer finishes his (or her) job, and you start gazing at the magnificence of how it all turned out, you will be very proud, and you will hardly wait to get up in the morning and go to brush your teeth every day.

  • Mosaic tile patterns

When it comes down to talking about tile patterns, I have to say that conventional mosaic tiles come in patterns where one image, sort of, repeats itself over the wall surface (just like when you set your desktop background to be arranged in tile order). If you have sufficient funds, you can go the distance and have the tile installer make whatever you want to make on your wall. Imagine a wall as a surface that has pixels and every tile is an individual pixel. The smaller the tiles are, the better the image quality. So, you can print out a picture that is of significance to you, and the tile installer will create that exact image, but prepare to pay up, because there sorts of designs don’t come cheap, logically. My advice is to choose an image that doesn’t have that much detail, so that it can be installed with not that much effort put in, but that will still look ravishing, and that’s it.

Finally, I will state the importance of why I have said that the tile installer will do the tiling process for you and not you, on your own. The installation process is tricky, and the number of possible problems is huge. If you have no experience in this field, it is wiser to pay a professional that to have to deal with the mess that you will make if you go into the venture alone. Apart from being wiser, it is more economical, because it is cheaper just to hire a professional, than to hire someone to fix the walls, clean the seemingly irremovable mess, and install the tiles afterwards, wouldn’t you say?
